Graduation (Chickenpox)

March 27, 2008 at 9:34 pm (School) (, , , , , )

Classes are over in 8 days and I don’t have a clue what I am going to do next… Maybe this is my last year in the US.

I have to decide where I want to go alter the summer. Maybe I should come back to the LDS Business College until I figure that out.

BYU is still an option, I don’t know.

8 days and my school life is over and my search for a job begins!

Oh yeah, and guess what…

Something about me (all about me)

March 25, 2008 at 12:50 am (Family) (, , , , )

Trying to describe one self is pretty hard. I did it once and this is what I came out with: (yes it is long and it goes with pictures and everything)

Here it goes:

11.jpg
Elvis Lives, Hollywood, California

Personal Name: O. Hernán (The“O” is for Orlando)

Hometown: Argentina.

Birthday: 8 de marzo de 1980.
Nick names: Xoy – Jernan- Nan- (H)erchu- (H)er- You… Dude!

Me, being imprudent in the Oregon Coast.

Things I like Relaxing on a swimming pool, watching the waves of the ocean crash to the rocks, going shell hunting on the beach, taking Pictures, Watching pictures, my picture camera, A Barbecue evening with the family.

I like to read books, I do, but I never find something that keeps me reading. I like to read the news paper, I read every morning: I read a Utah news paper, the New York Times and the USA Today, and also I read the Clarin.com and the Infobae.com, I also waist my free time reading blogs. The blog I read religiously are from my closest friends (Dallas S. , Miriam H. y Patrick F.)

I like to make people laugh, but I don’t like to feel stupid doing it. I have a weird sense of humor.

3.jpg
City walk (Universal Studios, California)

More things I like La Rubia, writing, graphic design, advertising, religions, swimming, to travel, Movies (All kinds) friends, Kevin Johansen, Argentinos Jr., Internet, music, Cars, XBox, books, TV shows, art, magazines…

I like sports, (I just not good at most of them) I like running; I like swimming, volley ball,
tennis, Rowing, archery and equestrian. (I love horses)

TV Shows The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, F.r.i.e.n.d.s, Scrubs, Heros, Lost, etc

4.jpg
Big Jump in the Oregon meadows

Something to say? NO…

Ok, yes. I always have something to say (about anything really) but I don’t really know what I suppose to write here.

I am Hernan (The H is silent!!!) I am not naturally out going, I consider myself a little shy, however I force myself to be talkative and social. (Emphasis in “force myself”)

51.jpg
My fallen Star: Michael Jackson (Hollywood, CA)

I love(s) I love to eat… in fact I eat a lot but I never get fat (Yes! I am one of those!) I don’t drink alcohol, (or tea, or coffee) I don’t smoke. I don’t like candy that much; I don’t enjoy chocolate or sweet cakes. I know, pretty boring… what can I say.

I love to sleep (but I hate siestas) I really like music (all kinds) I like animals, I like going dancing with my girlfriend, I like to talk to her, play with her and kiss her.

I absolutely LOVE my family, is the only strong thing that still makes me want to go back home. I love my mom, my dad, my siblings… my nephew, my niece, my cat, my dogs… I miss everything about them… everything!.

6.jpg
Big tree. Redwood, California.

I don’t like(s) I don’t like captivated animals at all. (Rats, hamsters, rabbits, turtles, snakes, birds, etc)

I don’t like Zoos. Since I went to a zoo in Buenos Aires  (I was 8) I never went to one ever again.  I support the idea of helping them, protecting them from circuses, and etc, but I still find sad being looking at them looking at me looking at them (confusing?). I never stepped in on a circus.

I don’t like to complain but I do it a lot. And even so, I’m known for being smiley and positive all the time. Some times that could be annoying… (So I find stuff to be sad about)

7.jpg
Reading under the tree, Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah

The I am(s) I am patience, tolerant, friendly, easy going (laid back I guess) and kind, but if you make me mad or freak out…WOW for your own sake, just leave me alone for a min. I’ll forget that I am mad in 5 or 10 minutes)

I am very sarcastic, blunt, and some times naïve.

I’ m one of those people who trust in people too much, I believe that there is something good in everyone. (Remember the naïve comment?)

I would have to confess I am capricious(?) Caprichoso (brat?), and that can lead me to be stubborn.

I am competitive. You might say… “We all are,” but I’ll bet you I win.

81.jpg
Moody in the morning (waken up by the seagulls in Groove, California)

I am not a morning person (Never ever, never!, wake me up yelling at me. Never!) If you do, I’m not only going to be moody all day, but also every time I see you I would be mad at you for no reason) (Kate!)

I am spoiled… by my mom, my brothers and sister, my family in general, my friends, by strangers… well, I am spoiled by life… by God.

I am what some people called open minded (or hippie for some) but I also consider myself very traditional (conservative) and old fashioned.

I am religious ( I do go to church every Sunday) but I am not what is commonly considered “fanatic”.

God Talking about God does not embarrass me except if people start listening to me too much.

If I could change something about my appearance… anything at all, I would fix my teeth.

28 Años (The Capitol Party)

March 10, 2008 at 9:24 pm (Hernan) (, , , , , , )

Many thougth it was a joke, but sure enough the passed saturday (March 8th) all the believers and the ones who weren’t afraid of dressing up (or were in Utah) said present to my 28th birthday party.

5.jpg

Trying to find a parking spot in the capitol building was almost imposible.

Almost 60 people showed up for my birthday, one told me that she coudn’t came because she wanted to go to this other party

And it turned out that this “another party” was the same party (at the capitol). That was funny.

1500 people came for the U of U Institute Dance.

imgp2859.jpg

We danced all night… and when it was over we danced some more!

It was really fun to see everybody dressed up.

March 8, 2008… 8:00 Am

March 8, 2008 at 6:01 pm (Family, Hernan) (, , , , , )

Today is my birthday! Today I am officially 28… I know I’m not old, but being in Utah it’s kind of hard not to feel that I am.

I kind of enjoy being 28 and single. I have a whole life and a whole world in front of me. In the other hand, I think that I don’t want to be too old when my kids are 8. (Something to think about)

Tonight at 8 is my Birthday party at the Capitol Building of Salt lake City.

bn15486_25.jpg

Institute of Religion of the University of Utah is sponsoring a formal Dance there. It was free so I thought… “Excellent location and timing, and it’s is free… just perfect! And I don’t have to do anything besides invite everybody to this dance”

A lot of people told me that they were coming, but we would have to wait and see.

Happy birthday to me!!!

Crazy Weather in Buenos Aires

March 3, 2008 at 4:15 pm (Argentina) (, , )

tornado-waterspout-buenos-aires.JPG

In the middle of a crazy-weather week with unstoppable rain and flooding in various areas of Buenos Aires, two waterspouts (tornado-like shapes over water) formed yesterday over the Rio de la Plata River, 200 meters from the coast. A very rare phenomenon for the area that left locals amazed and wondering.

Even though local press and specialists did not link the event to climate change, it happened after one of the hottest summers in history and it was the second rare incident related to Buenos Aires weather in less than a year. The previous was the first snowfall in almost 90 years, which took place last July.

.

Yesterday’s generated 40 Km/h winds, and even though they were very near from boats they left no injured people or incidents. “If this had happened in the city, it would have provoked tremendous disasters,” Climate specialist Osvaldo Canciani stated.Truth is that weather in Buenos Aires keeps breaking the news. After the mentioned snowfall last July, the ending summer was one of the hottest in history. Temperatures reached over 38ºC, which is around 100ºF; when average is 23ºC or 73ºF and very hot days are usually 32ºC or 89ºF.
