9th and 9th Restaurants

Salt Lake City, Utah

Chanon Thai Café

Some corners of the old neighborhoods of Salt Lake City became popular because of its Architecture and history.

This is the case of 900 East and 900 South (9th & 9Th) where many little ‘peculiar’ stores and restaurants (hard to find in other places) are located.

Like Chanon Thai Café, a small but cozy Thai restaurant that transmit a feeling of comfort and relaxation.

The food is excellent ( I tried #30 Kaow Pad) and the prices were very convenient (From $5 to $14)

Days of ‘47 Float Parade (Pioneer Day)

July 25, 2008 at 5:26 pm (School) (, , )

I was “asked” to be part of the LDS Business College Float for the Pioneer’s Day Parade (Days of ’47 Float Parade)

There were thousands of people, TV cameras, and helicopters from the media, cheering, screams, and, of course, floats… Lots and lots them.

I am not going to lie… it feels pretty good to hear your name and see familiar faces cheering for you with signs and all.

It was like I was famous for a while (my 5 min of glory)

Actually, I am 28

July 17, 2008 at 1:42 am (School) (, , , )

Younger

Someone asked me how old i was… i said I was 22… they were realy surprised and said that I look YOUNGER.

Decision

I got in to SUU, (Southern Utah University) a relatively small University in Cedar City (3 hours south of Salt Lake City)

Also I am trying to get into BYU, (Brigham Young University) The largest privet University in the United States. It is located in Provo (45 min South of Salt Lake City)

Of course I really want to get into BYU, 0ne, because my major (advertising) is ranked in the top 20 in the nation.

two, because it is closer to Salt Lake City where most people I know live. Also I know the culture, and the Church protection.

And most importantly, three, becaue is way cheeper.

The cons of BYU are the followings:

A) It is in the top 20, so that means that they add more prerequisites to get into the program, and also means more competitivety, and some times means that they make it ridiculously hard.

B) Mormon culture: It could be way overwhelming, even after 5 years living on it

SUU pros are one) It’s a one year program! so I jump directly to my major.

two) It’s is two to three hours away from Salt lake City and Las Vegas and still is a really small town wich is good to focus and study.

Three) I don’t know anybody there so it would be like a new start.

The Cons: too expensive, no church school, I don’t know ANYBODY there.

Contradictory huh?

We Salute Argentina!

July 9, 2008 at 1:45 pm (Argentina) (, , )

Mortals! Hear the sacred cry;
Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!

Hear the noise of broken chains.
See noble Equality enthroned.

The United Provinces of the South
Have now displayed their worthy throne.

And the free peoples of the world reply;
We salute the great people of Argentina!

And the free peoples of the world reply;
We salute the great people of Argentina!

May the laurels be eternal
That we knew how to get….

That we knew how to get.

Let us live crowned with glory,

Or swear to die gloriously.
Or swear to die gloriously.

Argentinos, Salud!!!

Feliz dia de la Independencia!

happy independence Day!

To Read or not to Read (books)

July 8, 2008 at 11:47 pm (School) ()

I’ve been reading more lately, it’s been a while.

I like reading a lot, but it used to take me so long to finish a book in English that I rarely started or finished a book.

But now I am proudly announcing that I am back on this of reading books!!!!

Now I am reading “The Secret garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett, and “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” by C.S. Lewis (I already read the first 3 books, and so far my favorite is the first one: “The Magician’s Nephew”)

I know they are all children books but they are the best… AND my level of reading (in English) is lower than it supposed to be…

It’s good to know our limitations and weaknesses so we can prepare and be ready to overcome them.

My level of reading in English is what a it would be for a normal 16-17 year old kid.

My mistake was that I tried to read books that I would normally read in Spanish (in a supposedly adult level of reading)

The first English book I try to read was “The Book of Mormon” which was extremely difficult.

Then I started “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carneguie but I never finished (I did finished it however, in Spanish).

The first book -in English- I ever finished was “Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story”

What are you reading?

Hillbilly

July 7, 2008 at 8:37 pm (Activities) (, , )

Salt Lake City, Utah

I went to a ‘Hillbilly’ FHE party where everyone supposed to dress up like a ‘Hillbilly’

I didn’t know what the meaning of ‘Hillbilly’ was, thus I checked in the dictionary to know how I suppose to dress up.

I was surprised to find out that ‘Hillbilly’ is a derogatory term related to so many offensive terms like “White Trash,” “Redneck,” “Hick,” or Cracker (White Cracker).”

4th of July!

July 6, 2008 at 4:18 pm (Travel) (, , )

Devin invited me to go with his family to Huntington Lake, just south of Price.

(This is Devin, my roommate)

The place has an incredible view from the lake.

(Incredible view)

(This is Devin’s Sister)

We went boating, and I learned how to ski in the water and tried knee-boarding, but I failed miserably.

(Me skiing on water for the very first time!)

(Me trying to get my knees in the board but I gave up)

The scary /fun part was when we did “Tubing”

(The boat was going so fast that we were almost flying in the floating device)

Friends- The Movie

July 2, 2008 at 8:24 pm (TV, TV Shows) (, , , )

I don’t think, that any sitcom had made me laugh so hard as the TV show “Friends” did.

I am a confessed fan. I would watch one episode a day at lunch; it was short, funny, and entertaining.

The thing is that the movie is coming up for some time next year.

Even though it is something that many people wanted to happen, it also brought a lot of doubt concerning if making a movie is such a good idea.

Do you think “Friends, The Movie” will suck?
