9th and 9th Restaurants
Salt Lake City, Utah
Chanon Thai Café
Some corners of the old neighborhoods of Salt Lake City became popular because of its Architecture and history.
This is the case of 900 East and 900 South (9th & 9Th) where many little ‘peculiar’ stores and restaurants (hard to find in other places) are located.
Like Chanon Thai Café, a small but cozy Thai restaurant that transmit a feeling of comfort and relaxation.
The food is excellent ( I tried #30 Kaow Pad) and the prices were very convenient (From $5 to $14)

Something good of living in Salt Lake City is that there is so many outdoors activity. And all is really close to downtown.
The other day my co-worker and friend, Rodrigo, and I discovered this park hidden behind the Capitol Building.
The Park is blocks from Downtown!!

Here is Rodrigo trying to pass the trail with out falling to the river. He took 45 min, but he succeed. I guess thse self motivation seminars really helps!
Picture Hunting #3: South Temple Street
Salt Lake City, Utah
Quinha invited me to take pictures of the historical South Temple, the most glamorous street of Salt Lake City.
Today is possible to find huge mansions, beautiful structures and a lot of history.
So ladies and gentlemen, with you: ‘South Temple Street’ by Hernán.
Which one do you like the best?
Memorial Day: Hunting Graves
Salt Lake City, Utah
On Memorial Day I went with the Smiths to the Salt Lake Cemetery to visit Wayne.
Once there some from the group wanted to find some other relatives who passed away so we started a grave hunt.
We started with relatives, and continued with prophets…
Actually we intended to find Gordon B. Hinckley’s grave…but it’s tarted raining so we left.
It was fun though.
He didn’t win??? (American Idol Surprising Finale)
I was going home from work when I saw many , many people going to the ‘Energy Solutions’ ARENA to watch the finale of American Idol.
As I predicted, David Archuleta (From Utah) was one of the finalists… (He was compitting against a guy named David Cook, from Ohio)
There were at least 4000 people at the stadum, lost of screaming teenagers.
The best of the night came with the surprising finale.
The surprise was the anounsment of the winer.
Against all odds, the winer was: David Cook.
And this was the reaction of the people at the Arena:
Fun(ny) attitude
Orlando, Florida
The last 3 days in Orlando weren’t nearly as fun as Disney World days. Even though we did fun stuff, we (Jon) didn’t have the right attitude.
We went to a Water park
We went to Downtown Disney, where the toys were really friendly, perhaps a little too friendly.
We went to Universal Studio’s Island of Adventure.
We jumped from the highest Skycoaster in the world
Our way back
Taxi to the bus station in Orlando, Bus to Tampa, taxi to the Airport.
On our way back we missed our plane to Las Vegas, so we spent the night in Dallas, Texas… where we missed our flight again…and yeah… after that we missed it one other time. (3 flights!!!)
Once in Vegas we couldn’t find the car, then the battery was dead, then Jon was too tired to drive me back to Salt Lake City (As he said he would) so I had to take a bus the day after.
There’s nothing to do but laugh in these situations.
MasterCard Moment?
Taxi to the bus station in Orlando ($50)
Bus to Tampa ($24)
Taxi to the Airport ($20)
taking two days to get home, missing your flight 3 times in a row then spending 60 minutes trying to remember where you parked your car… and then find out that the battery is dead? Pricel… $56.- (The bus home)
The “Why” of us flying from Vegas to Tampa
Miami, Florida
I am now in Miami… waiting for the flight to Tampa…
Now that I have a little time, and for those who likes to read and want to know how is that I am going to Disney World (and why in the world I am flying from Vegas to Tampa instead of flying directly from Salt Lake City to Orlando) here is the explanation:
My birthday and my graduation were really close one to another… so my friend Paola wanted to give me something special.
First was a sky diving trip, but after finding out what sky diving was she changed her mind.
So she asked me to choose a place to go. The first place that came to my mind was South Beach (Miami) but then I remember that last year I regretted not going to Disney World when I was in South Beach.
Jon, my (then) roommate wanted to came with us; he had a friend there that could get us free tickets! (So he was more than invited)
He got over excited and also scared after the possibility that the trip wouldn’t happen so he bought the tickets way in advance.
Paola always changes her mind, so his fear was understandable. In fact Paola did change her mind and the trip almost didn’t happen.
Jon insisted that we should fly from Las Vegas to Tampa. “If you guys came with me to Vegas I’ll get the gas cost” he said… “Flying from Vegas is cheaper” he assured
Paola had some other businesses to take care of so she couldn’t go to Orlando.
I didn’t really want to go with out her but Jon already had the Tickets so 3 days before the date he was supposed to go I got tickets for the same flight (Las Vegas-Miami- Tampa)
None the less, I was really, really excited that I was going to Disney World.
